Our in-house Research and Development team work on a continuous cycle, tirelessly ensuring that each component, manufacturing technique and all features such as security, thermal efficiency and safety are optimised, helping propel Origin to the forefront of design and manufacturing excellence.
For year-round efficiency, our doors and windows are designed to ensure too much heat doesn’t enter the home during the summer months and that the heat won’t escape in the winter. In real terms, this will help reduce your energy bills and will make your room become usable all year round.
The U-Value of a building material measures how effectively it insulates a building, so the lower the U-Value, the better the insulation properties of that material.
The Building Regulation Requirements for New Builds requires doors and windows to have a limiting U-Value of 1.6 W/m2K and for replacements, to have a U-Value of 1.4 W/m2K.
Origin exceed British Building Regulation requirements for optimal thermal efficiency across all the range.
The Residential, Bi-fold, Corner Bi-fold, French and Single Door can all be specified with our own specially designed multi-point lock. With 8 points of locking, it ensures your home is kept safe and secure. Chamfered 20mm linear bolts offer a smoother operation when engaging the lock, as well as giving maximum compression for increased weather resistance. Add deep throw 25mm security hooks - the deepest engagement available on the market today - and the lock delivers the best in both security and weatherproofing.
They also come with barrel options, but both are proven to protect against snapping, picking, drilling and bumping, to offer a defence that is second to none.
Additionally, our doors make use of our bespoke hinges that have been designed and manufactured to withstand attacks, whilst the innately strong aluminium profile makes systems ultra-secure.
Origin doors and windows are completely bespoke, and a big part of this is the colour of the frames, so we’re pleased to be able to offer over 150 different RAL colours for you to choose from.
Whether it’s black, white, metallic, a pastel shade or any colour of the rainbow you’re after, we guarantee to have a colour that will offer inspiration and work for you.
The choice is yours – do you want to make it blend in with your brickwork, render or cladding, replace like for like, or go a little more bold with it? Your options are endless, and one of the great benefits of this extensive colour range is that you can make such a personal expression and that there will be an option to suit any property type.
At Origin, we understand that if you’re doing a building project, doors and windows are probably some of the last things to be ordered as you’d be waiting on set aperture sizes before being able to proceed.
The industry average lead is around 4-6 weeks, and that’s quite a long time to be waiting, especially if there are any delays in the project. Even things like errors in the order can leave you waiting for that period of time again.
Therefore, we have re-written the rules for manufacturing and sourcing. In fact, we have invested significantly in stock of components and profile of the most popular colours, so we’re able to manufacture and deliver certain products within 24-hours if you wanted us to.
Doors and windows play such an integral role in any property.
Aesthetically, they contribute so much in creating the overall character, look and feel of a home, and practically, they connect you and your family to your outside world. Every home, taste and functional preference is unique, so it’s only right that you’re able to control all the elements that come together to make the overall finish.
All Origin products are completely bespoke and tailored to your requirements, so you can personalise your Origin products as you wish.
When looking to invest in a new door or window, one of the biggest decisions you’ll be faced with is what material they’re made from.
You’ll no doubt be faced with questions such as – which would look the nicest, which would be the most secure, which would last the longest and what are the maintenance requirements associated with each?
We have previously made some advice articles that should give answers to all of the above and more, and pieces like this look at the individual materials and gives pros and cons of each, but for this page, we will be talking about aluminium exclusively, as it’s Origin’s material of choice for all of its doors and windows.
The very nature of our products demands precision driven design and engineering – something that materials such as timber and uPVC just can’t measure up to, as they won’t maintain alignment over the lifetime of the product. However, our high grade aluminium retains a consistent shape, barely contracting or expanding, whatever the weather. It’s guaranteed to offer the right combination of strength and weight to allow for a narrow, more aesthetically pleasing frames which will work flawlessly for decades to come.
Its impeccable powder coated finish removes the need for periodic painting and demanding maintenance*, so you can relax, knowing it’s one less thing to worry about.
